Exit polls show Lee Jae-myung with strong lead in S. Korea election

Lee Jae-myung of South Korea's majority liberal Democratic Party took a commanding lead in exit polls from Tuesday's snap presidential election.

According to a joint exit poll conducted by three terrestrial broadcasters, Lee secured 51.7 percent of the vote, ahead of Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party, who garnered 39.3 percent.

Lee Jun-seok of the minor conservative New Reform Party received 7.7 percent support.

Separate projections by local broadcasters JTBC, Channel A and MBN also showed Lee leading Kim by roughly 10 percentage points.
